6th Degree Black Belt

Professor Rocian Gracei Jr
About Rocian Gracie Jr
Rocian Gracie Jr., Master, 6th-degree IBJJF black belt, born in Teresópolis, Rio de Janeiro, creator of the Rocian Gracie Jr. Teaching Method. He is the grandson of the founder of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Carlos Gracie. He initially began teaching in the US, earning his black belt from his uncle, Master Carlson Gracie. This is where he also met Spillmann a TaeKwonDo and Hapkido Master in the early 90s, Rocian also started teaching classes at Spillmann's martial arts school, and Spillmann received his Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt from Professor Rocian Gracie Jr and his first Black Belt. Over those years, they shared many ideas and fighting knowledge and became great friends and brothers, to this day. He returned to Brazil and opened his first academy in São Paulo in 1998. He has always understood, even from his own experience, that each student is unique and that some students have much greater skill for competing in championships than others. Sometimes, he notices that two students have the same level of practice and ease of learning at the academy. It turns out that one has the physical and emotional readiness to compete in championships, while the other does not. This is why the Method is effective, as it assesses the student's knowledge regardless of whether they participate in championship tournaments or not.
